Its headwaters are located in the fertile lands of Pennsylvannia. The fact that it also rsides in PA is a great thing. Both states combined stock over 150000 fish!!! To add to that, PA stocks a fall strain! Conneaut gets the best of both worlds. Now hears the thing. PA side has a fair gradient. Lots of inbetween flat water flowing through farm land. There is a lot of unproductive shale and private land. As soon as it crosses the border, the river changes nature. 2nd tier shale predominates with gravel/pool mixed inbetween. Lots of places to hide. As it turns back to the lake, the gradient increases and it becomes a 50/50 mix shale to gravel.
