2008 and Beyond

Our Ohio steelhead program has a wonderful future. Our fish facilities for rearing have improved and legislators have listened to the outdoors man. The egg swap between Michigan for trout eggs has been successful and steady enough to guarantee promised numbers. The Ohio Department of Resources is actually being proactive in planning on getting our own brood stock. This has proven to be highly successful in Pennsylvania. Self reliance seems to be the best answer. The Manistee strain has 120+ years of evolution and their returns have been successful. Neither lampreys, virus, pollution, man-made barriers have stopped this fish from surviving. "Steelhead Alley"(Oh, Pa, Ny, Ontario) is here to stay and the future is bright.
