Many fisherman are intimidated by the size of the Grand. I personally think it is also a plus. When pressure is high, you can still find stretches with no one fishing them. All it requires is a little hiking. Also, if there hasn't been a lot of rain, the Grand will still fish good and fish will continue to run up it. The gradient is good overall, with riffle-pools and cut clay banks and huge stretches of 5-10 ft clay holes. I'd say its a 60/40 mix of clay to gravel with plenty of 100lb boulders inbetween. Upstream has more smaller gravel while downstream has great holding areas. There are plenty of places to hide.
